Do u ve the Gift of Gab?? Its only Words!

As i listen to the song "Words" by Ronan Keating, my mind drifts into realizing the importance of Words in our lives!

During the learning process of our growing up..we tend to ensure that we get ourselves the best of education..make the best utilization of our minds..work a lot on improving our physical appearances..inculcate within ourselves the best of etiquettes..find ourselves the best of habits and hobbies...etc.
However, In the midst of it all, we often tend to ignore one of most important factors which makes us the person we are, which helps others in forming an opinion about us..
and that is our choice of words and style of speaking!!

Most of us would put in the least of time thinking about improving our way of talking and shift our focus away from using the most appropriate style of speech. While the importance of appropriate wordings can be seen at almost every time, one cannot get away from the fact that each word spoken out of our mouth has the maximum impact only if spoken at the right time, in the right way and the right place!! Words inappropriately framed are unimpactful and can often also lead to devastating consequences!

The power and impact of speech is realized by me, as i begin to look around at the people i come across in life! More so in the case of professionals, the whole game is all about the choices of words being used and their placing! The success stories of a professional greatly depends upon his communication skills and oratory power!

We must take an example of the greatest of leaders of all times who have had such a huge following not only because of their work, but also due to their powerful choice of words and oratory skills..their speeches were impactful not only due to how they spoke, but more due to what they spoke! Many a times, we do find ourselves witnessing goof ups made my these leaders in using appropriate words and mostly having extremely serious consequences!

In my opinion, choice of words do not just depict a person's Communication Skills, but also his Honesty, Clarity of thought, Confidence, Upbringing and Fundamental thinking! It helps in forming an overview of the person's persona and judging his personality!

Further, just having the gift of Gab is not enough...for a person to master the art of communication, it also becomes extremely important to be a sound and good listener! Being a good listener shows the quality of Patience which holds equal importance in a persons professional development. It is very important to listen to the other person carefully so as to not miss a point, analyse, and then choose the words before speaking!
The key we often miss is to, take your time and deal with it Patiently!!

Therefore, we must learn that in today's competitive world, at the end of the day, only the one who has mastered in communication shall survive and flourish. So, let us put in a little more time and concentrate on working upon improvising ou communication skills and learn not to just bluntly speak whatever comes to our mind!

Each Word must be carefully analysed and thought of before putting up to the front since "Words once spoken, can never, ever be taken back"!! :D

A letter every teacher should read!

ABRAHAM LINCOLN'S LETTER
TO HIS SON'S TEACHER

He will have to learn, I know,
that all men are not just,
all men are not true.

But teach him also that
for every scoundrel there is a hero;
that for every selfish Politician,
there is a dedicated leader...

Teach him for every enemy there is
a friend,
It will take time, I know;
but teach him if you can,
that a dollar earned is of far more value than five found...

Teach him to learn to lose...
and also to enjoy winning.
Steer him away from envy,
if you can,
teach him the secret of
quiet laughter.

Let him learn early that
the bullies are the easiest to lick...
Teach him, if you can,
the wonder of books...
But also give him quiet time
to ponder the eternal mystery of birds in the sky,
bees in the sun,
and the flowers on a green hillside.

In the school teach him
it is far honourable to fail
than to cheat...
Teach him to have faith
in his own ideas,
even if everyone tells him
they are wrong...

Teach him to be gentle
with gentle people,
and tough with the tough.
Try to give my son
the strength not to follow the crowd when everyone is getting on
the band wagon...

Teach him to listen to all men...
but teach him also to filter
all he hears on a screen of truth,
and take only the good
that comes through.

Teach him if u can,
how to laugh when he is sad...
Teach him there is no shame in tears,
Teach him to scoff at cynics
and to beware of too much sweetness...

Teach him to sell his brawn
and brain to the highest bidders
but never to put a price-tag
on his heart and soul.
Teach him to close his ears
to a howling mob
and to stand and fight
if he thinks he's right.

Treat him gently,
but do not cuddle him,
because only the test
of fire makes fine steel.
Let him have the courage
to be impatient...
let him have the patience to be brave.

Teach him always
to have sublime faith in himself,
because then he will have
sublime faith in mankind.
This is a big order,
but see what you can do...
He is such a fine fellow,
my son!

Is the Honour really left??

Just read the following news, leaving me disheartened:

"Family tortures, kills daughter & lover:
Dwaipayan Ghosh, TNN, Jun 15, 2010, 12.40am IST

NEW DELHI: In a brazen and brutal case of honour killing right in the capital, a 19-year-old girl and her 21-year-old lover were tortured for hours by the girl’s family and then put to death by electrocution and flogging with steel rods in the wee hours of Monday. Neither intervention by neighbours nor pleas for mercy by the girl — which could be heard by residents in northwest Delhi for four hours — prevented the gory murders.

"The girl’s family accosted the duo around 11.30 pm on Sunday, Delhi. We heard her screams coming from her uncle’s house till 3 am. She kept pleading for the boy’s life but her parents and relatives did not relent," said a neighbour.

Police said the family had suspected that the victim, was planning to elope with her lover, who was from another caste and did not have the same ‘status’ as them."

The above is seen as another case of honour killing...honour killings have been part of our society for way too long now...Earlier witnessed only amongst the smaller town, a no. of cases are now witnessed amongst the educated masses also living in bigger cities and even in metros. A case of an honour killing always leaves an impact on me and leaves me a feeling of numbness and sadness. The deaths given by family members in the name of saving the honour are ruthless and merciless...does that really leave a family with an honour then??

Some incidents never have any justification...the post just in dedication to all the people who have become prey to such honour killings...and to all the families to be a bit more God fearing before surrendering to such acts. Life and death is only in the hands of GOD and Nature...and we must not try and play with the rules of nature for our own good!

God bless them and give the the strength to live peacefully with the guilt of killing their own daughter or son for no reason!!

R country might be Independent n Free but are WE??

At the lunch table today, the matters in relation to the Bhopal Gas Leakage case 25 years back gave fuel to a grave discussion in my home!
The main point of discussion was the way India's requests to extradite Warren Anderson, the former chairman of Union Carbide, the company whose actions lead to the gas leakage, was blocked by USA.

As it can be seen in this case, and many many other cases in the past, The United States of America has always been extremely protective and caring about its citizens! No American citizen is left unprotected by its country whether he is a VVIP or a common man. Unlike in India, American citizens are at utmost priority for their nation and in return their love for their country is also something to look upto.

Our mother India has been immensely nice in many many ways, but the Indian government has relatively no value for its citizens. Every other day passes by with n number of people dying innocently and ruthlessly. The population problem in our country has reduced our value in our nation and Social Security is restricted only to the privileged few!

Unfortunate, but true, the lack of love by the country for its people and the continuously reducing cost of an Indian Citizen does in some way or the other, reduce the love of the citizens for its country as well. Social security is turning out to be a huge problem in our country. No common person, whether man, woman, children or elderly is guaranteed security. The huge death tolls after each incident are talked about for a few days and then left unnoticed, not even to talk about the thousands of people who die everyday due to road accidents, murders, rape or any other incident.

Say for instance, in the case of the Bhopal Gas Case only, about 15000 people died and the effects of the gas leakage is still to be seen in the generations being borne in the form of disability, etc. , the Courts have given their order after 25 long years of wait and for what...2 years of imprisonment!!

This is the value of life in our nation. Any VVIP can simply commit the biggest of crime and escape at ease. The role of media and the hype created by them are the only sources through which the matter may be seriously looked into by the authorities out of fear of being exposed and not out of duty and responsibility to provide justice.

I do not write this article to criticize the working in my country. i write it as a concerned common man who wishes his country to be loved by each citizen and be proud of being an Indian. I personally love my country too much and would try and do my bit to make a positive difference in the nation!

I also believe that no nation is perfect, but we have lived with these imperfections for far too long.. it must change, now the time has come. And The new Generation is the change that we want. Let us not take the matter lightly and forget our responsibilities as an Indian. Its our house and we must clean it on our own...what are we waiting for?

Be the Change u want to SEE!!!

Lotsa luv

The pervasiveness of Satisfaction!!

I may look idle to many people around me right now, but for me, my mind and soul are always at work, constantly and continuously...so much, that it makes it so impossible for me to enjoy the much awaited and desired break, that ive been longing for, since so long...(though i do try n have my share of fun ;))

As i see myself in this phase, i realize how unsatisfied and unpredictable human mind can be!C'mon this is probably the only period of my life when i can just take my mind off everything else in the world with no responsibilities in hand and for some time, just enjoy each minute of the break that im in!But as i think this, im told by my mind, of the responsibilities i ve towards my own self and that is what keeps me going!

I get reminded of the phase, when i was studying or was at work, i used to find myself ,longing for this break from studies/work to spend my mind with my family, friends and to do the things that i never earlier had the time to do... I used to long for a break to just sit back and relax,to read, go for a jog/swim/drive or about anything, and do absolutely nothing apart from just sitting back and enjoying the phase of being "free", a time which rarely comes at my age and with our lifestyle!

Ive always thought of myself as the kind of girl who is hardworking, more than willing to get into the grind and looks for happiness in small things..the smallest of gesture or niceness gives me immense happiness..
But then if i do get happy with small things, which i really do, i ask myself as to y does my mind aim for highest of goals and targets...i should just be happy with the way things are!
The answers to all the above questions are within me...

Firstly i am happy, with the way things are! I am just hopeful of them getting better..which puts the pressure on my mind, so that i can go nearer and nearer to my long term goals.
Im unsatisfied: cos in my mind, i have formed a goal or target where i see myself few years down the line...and i feel that un-satisfaction is very important for human development...I feel the day im satisfied wit things around me...the possibility of growth finishes! To grow in life, u ought to be unsatisfied...whatever ur definition of growth maybe!

Im confused right now: yes, maybe i am, but again, confusion is very good...one gets confused cos one has options...one gets confused cos one wants to see and do something unique and out of the box...and not just become a part of the rat race! Isnt it always is good to have options to chose from..and even better to chose on ur own! Confusion always exists initially when one thinks of doing things in his/her own way and sees things differently!Having proper knowledge and advice plays a vital role in clearing up the confusion eventually!

So whatever be ur confusion/ goal/problem..however people may mock at u...or criticize u...take the criticism in pride..and keep going towards the things u want to do carrying along with u only ur principles and knowledge...be positive and never give up!
I never do! and everything else will follow on its own!
Remember, WOnders always take a lot of time( and a lot of hard work) to get created than simple super structures!!

Be good and be positive! Keep rocking!
Lotsa luv always!
